The 3rd Meeting of the "Club rhénan

The 3rd Meeting of the "Club rhénan", a Franco-German forum on the future of Europe created by Joachim Bitterlich and Jean-Dominique Giuliani will take place on 14th May in Paris. The main themes will be: the European Union's energy policy and the European Security and Defence Policy. This meeting has the support of the Robert Schuman Foundation and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
Schuman Parade in Warsaw
European Union - 09/05/2008
The 15th Euro-Polish Meeting is taking place between 5th and 11th May; there will be conferences and an exhibition. The highlight will be the Schuman Parade on 10th May in partnership with the Robert Schuman Foundation together with the President of the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Pöttering, the Mayor of Warsaw, Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, the Mayor Berlin, Klaus Wovereit and several MEPs.
Conference of Aleksander Milinkievich on Belarus

The Robert Schuman Foundation organised a conference-debate on the present situation in Belarus on 6th May together with the French Information Bureau at the European Parliament with Aleksander Milinkievich, democratic opposition leader in Belarus and winner of the Sakharov Prize 2006 awarded by the European Parliament.
Debate - The European Union after the French Presidency

In partnership with The Centre, the Robert Schuman Foundation is organising on 5 May a debate in Brussels on "The European Union after the French Presidency", in the presence of Jean-Dominique Giuliani, President of the Robert Schuman Foundation and Graham Watson, President of the Democratic and Liberal Alliance party at the European Parliament.
Conference at the Medef - "Does international finance need a European compass?"

The Robert Schuman Foundation organised an evening debate on the theme "Does international finance need a European compass?" in partnership with the Medef. This seminar is one of a series of meetings organised as the French presidency of the European Union approaches on the initiative of Jérôme Bédier, chairman of the 'Commission Europe' at the Medef.
Seminary: "The role of the Franco-German tandem in the European Union's new boost"

April 3rd and 4th, a international seminary was held in Bruges by the College of Europe and the Franco-German Institut, on the themes of "the role of the franco-german tandem in the European Union's boost". Political and academic leaders, as well as practiciens, discussed the principal elements of the Franco-German axes. Pascal Joannin, General Director of the Robert Schuman Foundation, participated to this seminary.
Workshop - European Ideas Network (EIN)

The European Ideas Network (EIN) in partnership with the Foundation for Political Innovation and the Robert Schuman Foundation organised a working seminar on 5th March on "Facing the 2025 Challenge: EU Options and Solutions". Jean-Dominique Giuliani, chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation introduced the debates with James Elles, MEP, chairman of the EIN.
Workshop: "Is Europe supporting its companies to export?"

The Robert Schuman Foundation organised a working seminar in Brussels on 4th March on the theme of "Is Europe supporting its companies to export?". This seminar took place with Ignasi Guardans, MEP and David O'Sullivan, Director General for External Trade in attendance along with a number of company heads and several representatives from Parliament and the Commission in attendance.
Schuman Report 2008 on the state of the Union

The annual edition of the "Schuman Report 2008 on the State of the Union" which was released on 12th February at the CAPE (Centre d'Accueil de la Presse Etangère) with Jean-Pierre Jouyet, Minister of State responsible for European Affairs and Alain Lamassoure, former Minister, MEP, is available on-line in French (paper) ; it costs 19 €.
UMP Convention on Europe

The chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Jean-Dominique Giuliani took part in the UMP Convention on Europe on 30th January at the Maison de la Mutualité (Europe: let's build our future together"). This Convention provided an opportunity for debate with two round tables including themes as varied at the achievement and issues at stake within the new European treaty, the place given to the "small countries" in the European Union, the conception of common policies, notably in terms of immigration, energy and defence and the possible integration of new member countries. The day concluded with a speech by the President of the French Republic, Nicolas Sarkozy and Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany.
