As part of the French Presidency of the EU, Jean-Dominique Giuliani, chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation took part in a debate entitled "The EU on the international scene: what means for what goals?" on 30th September in the Finnish Parliament. Debate focused on the CFSP, the consequences of enlargement, EU relations with the USA, China and Africa.

On 18th September the PME Union organised an international conference together with the Robert Schuman Foundation, EADS Astrium and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation - it was entitled "Space : A new Business Opportunity for European SMEs ?". It took place under the high patronage of Joseph Daul, chairman of the EPP-ED group.

The Gerb and the Robert Schuman Foundation organised a conference in Sofia on 17th September on the theme of "What kind of foreign policy should Europe adopt?". The Mayor of Sofia, Boiko Borissov and the Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Jean-Dominique Giuliani was in attendance.

On 2nd July the Robert Schuman Foundation and the association "Femmes, Débat et Société" organised under the high patronage of the President of the French Republic, Nicolas Sarkozy, under the banner of the French Presidency, an international conference "Women for Europe" at Sciences Po Paris. In the three planned panel sessions, top-level European personalities from various fields offered proposals to reinforce the links between women citizens and Europe. The Robert Schuman Foundation, in partnership with "Hanns Sedel Stiftung", "Centre for European Studies" and "Constantinos Karamanlis institute for democracy", organised June 15th, at Bruxelles, a conference on the Union for Mediterranean.

On 7th June the Senate is organising a "Citizens Meeting" on "Europe, from Herodotus to Erasmus" together with Christian Poncelet, President of the Senate. Jean-Dominique Giuliani, chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation will be speaking at the first round table entitled "the Birth of a European Consciousness."

On 4th June Robert Schuman Foundation Chairman Jean-Dominique Giuliani will be taking part in a Research Day organised by the Foundation for Strategic Research on "The European Union, international player on the eve of the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty and the French Presidency." His speech focuses on the "results and institutional perspectives in terms of the CFSP/ESDP".

As part of the spring for Europe a conference/debate is being organised on 27th May in Sofia, Bulgaria together with many personalities including Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, Alain Lamassoure and Jean-Dominique Giuliani.

This conference is being organised by the embassies of France and Germany in Bulgaria with the support of the Robert Schuman and Konrad Adenauer Foundations.
