Conference in Riga
European Union - 14/10/2007
On October 14th and 15th, the Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Jean-Dominique Giuliani, was in Riga participating in a conference entitled "Europe at a crossroads: the agenda from Riga to Bucharest". The conference focused on the main challenges facing NATO and European Union Member States. The chairman of the Foundation will spoke both about the issue of borders, and about the values of the European project.
Conference : Robert Schuman and the Fathers of Europe
France - 10/10/2007
The Conseil général de Moselle has organised a conference in Metz entitled "Robert Schuman and the Fathers of Europe: political culture and formative years" that will take place from October 10th-12th. The objective of the event, which is being held with the support of the Robert Schuman Foundation, is to re-examine the intellectual and political roots of European construction from a new perspective by studying the role of the Fathers of Europe therein.
Second meeting of the Club Rhénan

The next meeting of the Club rhénan, a Franco-German forum created by Joachim Bitterlich and Jean-Dominique Giuliani, will be held on October 10th in Berlin. The main topics of the meeting will be the economic policy of the European Union and relations between the European Union and Russia. The event is made possible by support from the Robert Schuman and Konrad Adenauer foundations, and will welcome as guest of honor Wolfgang Schäuble, Germany's Federal Minister of the Interior.
The Lisbon Strategy

The Robert Schuman Foundation has just published its 41st note, on the subject of the "Lisbon Strategy". In the study, Yves Bertoncini and Vanessa Wisnia-Well, both project managers at the Centre d'analyse stratégique, describe the political plan that underpins the Lisbon Strategy, guiding the actions of the European Union and its Member States. The authors reserve the last section for the results produced by the Strategy, which seem both encouraging and contrasted.
Debate in Berlin on France's policy towards Europe

On September 20th, the Robert Schuman Foundation is organising, with the cooperation of the Franco-German relations program of the DGAP (German Council on Foreign Affairs), a conference covering perspectives on French policy towards Europe under the Sarkozy presidency. The chairman of the Foundation, Jean-Dominique Giuliani and Joachim Bitterlich, former ambassador and executive vice-president for international affairs of the Veolia Environnement group in Paris, will each speak to open the debate.
Debate on the French and European economic perspectives 2008

The Robert Schuman Foundation has organised, in association with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris, a breakfast debate focusing on "French and European economic perspectives 2008" that will take place on Wednesday, September 19th from 8:30 to 10:00. The debate will be led by Paul Betbeze, Crédit Agricole Chief Economist and member of the French Council of Economic Analysis and of the Foundation's Scientific Committee, and by Christian de Boissieu, President of the French Council of Economic Analysis and economic advisor to the president of the CCIP.
Poland - Economic Forum

The Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Jean-Dominique Giuliani, participated to the 17th Economic Forum of Krynica, which took place from 5th to the 8th September. More than 300 people from 60 countries took part in the forum, whose motto is: "Europe: crisis, change or chance?". The Chairman of the Foundation took part in a plenary session and in a roundtable discussion on enlargement.
Slovenia - European Union in 2020

The Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Jean Dominique Giuliani, participated on August 26th and 27th to the "Bled Strategic Forum" which dealt with the main challenges of the European Union in 2020: "enlarging and integrating". This conference took place in presence of the Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa and of many European high-ranking leaders.
Florence
European Union - 22/06/2007
Jean-Dominique Giuliani, chairman of the Foundation, and Alain Lancelot, president of the Scientific council, participated in the Franco-Italian Forum in Florence from June 22-23. The discussions centered on immigration and integration and were entitled "From the dusk of the Chirac era to the dawn of Sarkozy's reform", and "Recent developments in French immigration and integration policy".

The chairman of the Foundation, Jean-Dominique Giuliani, participated in "Communicating Europe: the European dimension of information", a conference dealing with the ways in which civil society's decision makers shape Europe's public sphere.
