Exceptional debate between Valéry Giscard d'Estaing and Herman van Rompuy

On 9th October 2013 the Robert Schuman Foundation organised an exceptional debate with the Linklaters consultancy and the newspaper "Les Echos" between former French President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing and the President of the European Council, Herman van Rompuy on the future of the European Union. The Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation hosted the debate.
This unique conference looked into the real stages of European Integration over the next 10 to 15 years and the possible stumbling blocks that might be encountered. The participants reviewed the expectations of the new generations of Europeans for whom it is vital to provide certainty in order to invest.
Europe's Values

Europe is proud of its founding values and promotes them across the world. With the Council of Europe, the vital institution for their defence, the Robert Schuman Foundation is organising a conference under the patronage of Jean-Claude Mignon, leader of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, on "Europe and its Values" on 23rd October 2013 from 2pm to 6pm at the HQ of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. On-line enrolment is obligatory.
Debate: How do we win back Europe's heart?

On the occasion of its 20th anniversary the consultancy Euralia organised a conference together with Robert Schuman Foundation on "How to win back Europe's heart" which took place in Brussels at the Belvue Museum on 3rd October 2013.
Debate with Yuri Lutsenko

Former Ukrainian Interior Minister and opposition leader, Yuri Lutsenko took part in a breakfast on 27th September 2013 at the Robert Schuman Foundation. At the heart of discussions was the Ukrainian political situation, the possible signature of an association agreement with the EU and the impact of the latter on the country's domestic political situation. Yuri Lutsenko also spoke of the conditions of detention of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and the difficulties linked to her liberation before the signature of the association agreement. Finally Mr Lutsenko addressed the issue of relations with Russia, its ability to influence Ukraine from a political and economic point of view and the possible consequences if Ukraine drew closer to the EU.
Conference on the results of the German elections at the Hanns Seidel Stiftung

On 25th September 2013 the Hanns Seidel Stiftung organised a conference on the results of the German elections in which the Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Jean-Dominique Giuliani, took part.
Commemorative Ceremony at the Salon de l'Horloge

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the death of Robert Schuman, the French Minister for European Affairs, Thierry Repentin organised a commemorative ceremony at the Quai d'Orsay in honour of Robert Schuman, Father of Europe, during which the Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Jean-Dominique Giuliani, delivered a speech.
European leaders paid tribute to Robert Schuman on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his death. The President of the Commission José Manuel Barroso made a declaration in which he insisted on Robert Schuman's importance to the European project. The President of the European Council, Herman van Rompuy signed an article in the French newspaper "La Croix" stressing the qualities of Europe's founding father. The Robert Schuman Foundation has put on line all of the texts devoted to the 50th anniversary of Robert Schuman's death.
Visits by students from Texas University

On 20th June 2013, the Robert Schuman Foundation hosted students from Texas A&M University. The Foundation's General Manager Pascale Joannin and the Manager for Franco-German Relations Manager, Inga Groth presented the Foundation's work and the role played by Robert Schuman in European integration.
What political future is there for Ukraine?

On 26th June the CERI organised a debate together with the Robert Schuman Foundation on "What is Ukraine's political future?" Robert Schuman Foundation Chair, Jean-Dominique Giuliani spoke alongside Vitaly Klichko, Chairman of OUDAR (Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform) and Christian Lesquesne, Director of the CERI.
Europe: culture and politics

On 24th June 2013 the Social History Institution organised a seminar entitled "Europe: culture and politics". The concept of European culture as well as the challenge that communitarianism poses for the European Union was one of the main themes addressed. Jean-Dominique Giuliani, Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation and Magali Balent, Project Manager were on the panel of speakers.
Presentation of the Schuman Report 2013 at the European Parliament

On the invitation of Joseph Daul, the President of the EPP Group, the Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Jean-Dominique Giuliani presented the "Schuman Report 2013 on the State of the Union" to the European Parliament in Brussels to MEPs, European civil servants, journalists and other professionals. This, the 7th edition in French (4th version in English), insists in particular on the political, economic, diplomatic challenges and opportunities for the European Union in 2013, notably in terms of governance.
