Euroscepticism and nationalism in Europe

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Greece is organising two conferences in Athens and at the University of Thessalia, Volos, on 28th and 29th April 2014 on the challenge set by euroscepticism and populism in Europe just weeks before the European elections on 25th May. Magali Balent, Project Manager at the Robert Schuman Foundation will be taking part in the two conferences and will be speaking of the rise of populism in France, the ideological divergence between the different European extremist parties and the possibility of these parties forming a group in the next European Parliament.
Presentation of the Schuman Report 2014 on the State of the Union at the European Parliament in Brussels

On 8th April the 2014 version of "The Schuman Report on the State of the Union" was presented to the European Parliament in Brussels with Joseph Daul, President of the EPP, Viviane Reding, Vice-President of the European Commission, Hans-Gert Pöttering, former President of the European Parliament, Manfred Weber, Vice-President of the EPP group, Jean-Paul Gauzès and many MEPs in attendance.

On 3rd and 4th April 2014 the Jean Monnet Centre for Excellence and the Centre for Research on the Law of European Organisations (CEDORE) are organising a seminar on the theme: Towards a stronger transatlantic partnership: a new order in a changing world?" Robert Schuman Foundation President Jean-Dominique Giuliani will close the seminar on growing cooperation in the area of security and defence.
Revolution in Ukraine

On March 20th the Robert Schuman Foundation organised a breakfast debate with Myroslav Marynovych (Vice-Rector of the Catholic University of Ukraine in Lviv), Mykola Riabchuk (researcher at the Institute of Political and Nationalities Studies in Kiev) and Vasil Filibchuk (Chair of the International Center of Policies Studies) on the theme of "The Revolution in Ukraine".
European Elections: the hour of truth after four years of crisis?

The Belle Feuilles Group is organising 15th March 2014 a debate which will focus on the European election on 25th May 2014, during which French citizens will vote to renew their 74 MEPs. Will the extremists take over the Parliament? What are the programmes of the various parties? Freedom of movement, EU/USA trade agreement, euro zone integration, what are the divisions amongst the French political parties? Jean-Paul Gauzès, MEP and member of the Robert Schuman Foundation's board will be taking part in the debate with Raquel Garrido and Nora Hamadi.

Role and Position of France in Europe

On 11th February the Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation Jean-Dominique Giuliani will be speaking at the "Mardis de l'Essec" alongside Jean Pisani-Ferry, economist, General Commissioner for Strategy and Forecasting, Serge Guillon, Secretary General for European Affairs and Yves Bertoncini, Director of Notre Europe. European Political Union and Democratic Control

On 14th January 2014 the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee organised a round-table on European political union and democratic control with Jean-Dominique Giuliani, Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Arnaud Chneiweiss, member of the European Observatory of the Jean-Jaurès Foundation and Jean-Paul Tran Thiet, member of the managing committee of the Montaigne Institute. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of closer diplomatic relations between France and Hungary, the Robert Schuman Foundation and the Embassy of Hungary in Paris are organising a conference on 17th December 2013 called "France, Hungary and Central Europe. Exchange of Franco-Hungarian Views." Various personalities from the Franco-Hungarian political, academic spheres and the media will be participating and contributing to debates moderated by Jean-Dominique Giuliani, Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation.
