The Robert Schuman Foundation received on 27 March in Paris a delegation of American Students from the DIS (Danish Institute for Study Abroad). The debate led by Magali Balent, Project Manager and Research Fellow of the Foundation and by Alain Fabre, expert on economy and business financial advisor, dealt with populism in Europe and the Euro crisis.

On 12th March 2013 Claude Bartolone, the President of the National Assembly hosted the official presentation at the Hôtel de Lassay of the "Schuman Report 2013 on the State of the European Union" published by the Robert Schuman Foundation. After an inaugural speech by the President of the National Assembly, Jean-Dominique Giuliani, Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation presented the content of the 7th edition of the "Schuman Report" and Mathilde Lemoine, spoke on the theme of "Which credible growth strategy for the EU?" A debate with MPs followed this presentation.

The Joseph Karolyi Foundation and the French Institute of Budapest have organises a conference on 8th and 9th March with the support of the Robert Schuman Foundation in Budapest (Hungary); the event entitled "Why do we need a Constitution? Between national characteristics and European consensus" was inaugurated by the Hungarian Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi alongside the Ambassador for France in Hungary, Roland Galharague. Jacque Barrot, member of the Constitutional Council and the Foundation's Board has taken part in the debates alongside József Szájer, MEP.

On 1st March 2013, the French Institute of Skopje, with the support of the Robert Schuman Foundation, organised a series of conferences in Skopje (Republic of Macedonia) on "The crisis and the candidate countries for EU membership". The first conference entitled "Why has there been a crisis?" took place on March 1st. Frank Lirzin, an expert working for the Foundation and an economist specialised in monetary policy issues, the European economy and macro-finance, took part in the debate alongside some Macedonian political leaders.

The Institute for International and Strategic Relations (IRIS) organised the 5th European Meeting in Enghien-les-Bains on 23rd February 2013 together with the Robert Schuman Foundation on the theme of "Bringing Europe and its Citizens closer together". On this occasion the Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Jean-Dominique Giuliani presented the "Schuman Report on the State of the Union 2013".

The Republic's fifth Etats Généraux devoted to European Youth took place on 1st and 2nd February 2013 in Grenoble. The newspaper "Libération" together with around 20 associations, foundations and think-tanks organised around 35 conference-debates on the major challenges facing European youth. The Robert Schuman Foundation organised two debates: the first one was moderated by Magali Balent, Project Manager and Researcher at the Foundation and was called "What is Europe doing to help youth employment?" The second one was focused on "the sense of belonging to the EU among young people".

On 23rd January 2013 in Paris, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Elysée Treaty, the initiative "I want Europe" organised a conference entitled "the Franco-German friendship, driving force of the European construction". The Robert Schuman Foundation and other think tanks were partners of this event and Jacques Barrot, member of the Constitutional Council and of the Robert Schuman Foundation's board of directors, Jean-Dominique Giuliani, Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Philippe Herzog, member of Confrontations Europe and Dominique Moïsi, Special Advisor in the Institut Français des Relations Internationales (IFRI), took part in the conference.

On 22nd January 2013, a solemn commemoration by the French and Germany governments was being held in Berlin with the National Assembly and the Bundestag, as well as with the Senate and the Bundesrat on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Elysée Treaty. At the end of the day there was a concert at the Berlin Philharmoniker on the invititation of Joachim Gauck, President of the German Federal Republic. Robert Schuman Foundation Chairman, Jean-Dominique Giuliani, was attending the ceremony.

On 16th January 2013 in Paris the Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Jean-Dominique Giuliani took in a debate at the auditorium of the daily "Le Monde" on the theme of "France-Germany: a joint responsibility for Europe." He debated with Hubert Védrine, former French Foreign Minister, and Susanne Wasum-Rainer, Ambassador for Germany in Paris.

On 15th January 2013 Radio France together with Arte and ARD organised a special day at Sciences Po in Paris from midday to 8pm to debate your experiences and proposals for the future of Europe and the Franco-German relationship. More than 26,000 people answered the survey "L'Allemagne, la France et vous?" supported by the Robert Schuman Foundation. The Foundation's General Director Pascale Joannin spoke live on France Culture in the programme 'La Grande Table' from midday to 2pm. Then, she was taking part in the round-table at 2:20pm on "Français et Allemands, une affection de raison?".
