4th meetings of the House of Europe: "A European Defence"

On 15th April 2011 the House of Europe - Europe Direct from Rennes and Haute Bretagne and the IHEDN organised in partnership with the Robert Schuman Foundation, the 4th meetings on the theme of European defence in Rennes (France). This day was based around two major questions: the challenge of the defence economy and the political prospects of European defence. Jean-Dominique Giuliani, President of the Robert Schuman Foundation opened discussions at an introductory conference, alongside the German Ambassador to France, Reinhard Schäfers; he latered present a final summary of discussions.
Meeting with four young Egyptians bloggers

On the 14th April 2011 the Robert Schuman Foundation received in Paris four young Egyptians bloggers (MM. Yamen Nouh, Karim Boutros-Ghali, Amr Adel and Ms Nihal Al Banna) who demonstrated with thousands of other Egyptians in Tahrir Square and who overturned Hosni Mubarak's regime. Alongside to Valérie Hoffenberg, National Secretary of the UMP in charge of relations with think tanks, the Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation Jean-Dominique Giuliani presented the main aims and purpose of the Foundation.
The EU and the Crises: what answers can we provide

The Institute of International and Strategic Relations (IRIS) organised on the 5 March 2011 the third European Interview of Enghien (France) together with the Robert Schuman Foundation on the theme of "L'Union européenne face aux crises: quelles réponses?" (The EU and the Crises: what answers can we provide?). The Chairman of the Foundation, Jean-Dominique Giuliani presented "The State of the Union 2011. Robert Schuman Report on Europe" published by Lignes de Repères. Thierry Chopin, Studies Director at the Foundation hosted a round table on "Europe and the Crisis: what are the solutions?".
The UN, the EU and the Mediterranean, what cooperation agreements for peace?

On 3rd March 2011 the International Agency for Diplomacy and Public Opinion (AIDOP) together with the Catholic Institute of the Mediterranean and the Robert Schuman Foundation organised two debates in Paris on the theme of: "The Mediterranean, yesterday and today, cultural convergence and difference." The Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation Jean-Dominique Giuliani took part in the debate on 3rd March on "The UN, the EU and the Mediterranean, what cooperation agreements for peace?"
The Economic Turbulence in Europe

On March 1st 2011 the Finnish Institute for International Affairs organised a conference in Helsinki (Finland) on the present economic turbulence in Europe and on the future of the euro area. The Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Jean-Dominique Giuliani spoke on the French and European outlook.
The European External Action Service (EEAS)
Brussels - 26/01/2011
On 26th January 2011 the Robert Schuman Foundation organised a debate at the Permanent Represenatation for France at the European Union in Brussels. This one focused on the European External Action Service (EEAS) with Alexander Graf Lambsdorff, MEP( ALDE,DE) and Maxime Lefebvre, diplomat, teacher at Sciences Po and author of a study on the EEAS for the Foundation. The debate was inaugurated by the spokesperson for the Permanent Representation Gaël Veyssière and hosted by Pascale Joannin, the Foundation's Director General. Ambassador Philippe Etienne concluded the debate.
Europe and the World in 2020

The Franco-German Studies Committee of the IFRI and the Zentrum für Europäische Integrationsforschung of the University of Bonn organised a conference in Brussels on 19th January 2011 on the theme of "Europe and the World in 2020 - Franco-German Outlook" in which the chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Jean-Dominique Giuliani. He spoke on the theme "For leadership via Credibility - Recommendations for a more effective European Policy."
Which Europe in the World?

The IEP of Strasbourg (France) organised a conference together with the Robert Schuman Foundation on 19th January 2011 on the theme : "Which Europe in the World?". The conference started with an analysis of the European External Action Service (EEAS) notably with Maxime Lefebvre, Director of International Relations for the ENA, author of a study on the EEAS for the Foundation; the second part was devoted to the EU's external neighbourhood policy notably with Alexandra Goujon who has also written several studies for the Foundation.
Europe-USA-Russia Forum
World - 09/12/2010
Turbulence in the US- or EU-Russia affairs influence vital interests of both sides of the Atlantic. Colored revolutions in Georgia and Ukraine, the Georgian war in 2008 and Russia-Ukraine gas disputes have generated tensions between Russia and the West. On 9th December 2010 Jean-Dominique Giuliani, Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation took part in the panel "Values and Political Tradition: Commonalities and Differences" in Washington (United States).
The future of ESDP within the Lisbon Treaty

The Austrian Institute for European and Security Policy organised on 5th November 2010 a conference about the future of ESDP within the Lisbon Treaty, with Jean-Dominique Giuliani, Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation.
