Meeting with four young Egyptians bloggers

On the 14th April 2011 the Robert Schuman Foundation received in Paris four young Egyptians bloggers (MM. Yamen Nouh, Karim Boutros-Ghali, Amr Adel and Ms Nihal Al Banna) who demonstrated with thousands of other Egyptians in Tahrir Square and who overturned Hosni Mubarak's regime. Alongside to Valérie Hoffenberg, National Secretary of the UMP in charge of relations with think tanks, the Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation Jean-Dominique Giuliani presented the main aims and purpose of the Foundation.

Thierry Chopin, Director of Studies, made a presentation on different political systems and voting methods in Europe. Debates then turned towards the role of women during the Arabic revolution (a debate carried by Pascale Joannin, General Director of the Foundation), on the influence of the social networks during the revolutions and their use in the European Union (debate carried by Pauline Desmarets, Internet Communication Manager), and on new technologies and freedom of expression: the influence of social networks (debate carried by David Juni, Digiplace Director).
