Competition Results on the history of the construction of Europe
European Union - 17/05/2010
As part of the 60th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, the Centre virtuel de la connaissance sur l'Europe (CVCE) (Virtual Centre of Knowledge on Europe) together with the Robert Schuman Foundation organised a competition from 8th February to 23rd April 2010 on the history of the construction of Europe designed for College and Lycée pupils. The results were delivered on 17th May in Luxembourg.

As part of the 60th anniversary of the Robert Schuman Declaration, the Robert Schuman Foundation together with the Goethe Institute organised in Paris a debate on 10th May 2010 on the theme of Europe's future. Joachim Bitterlich (former advisor to Chancellor Helmut Kohl), Jean-Dominique Giuliani (Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation), Christian Lequesne (Director of the Research Centre for International Studies, Sciences Po Paris) and François Scheer (Ambassador to France, advisor to the chairman of the board of AREVA) took part in this debate which was moderated by Henri Ménudier (professor at Paris III).
The desire for a social Europe

From 8th to 16th May 2010, the Robert Schuman House of Scy-Chazelles celebrated Europe Week. On 8th May four forum were organised on the future of Europe. Pascale Joannin, Director General of the Foundation took part in the third forum on the desire for a social Europe which took place in Metz.

The European Parliament celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, the European Parliament's Information Bureau together with the Robert Schuman Foundation put on an exhibition from 7th to 28th May 2010 entitled "The European Parliament celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration". The launch took place on 6th May in the presence of MPs, the European Affairs Ministry's representative, several Ambassadors, journalists, representatives from European associations.
Meeting of the EPP group committee
European Union - 16/04/2010
The committee of the European People's Party group (EPP) met on 15th and 16th April 2010 in Kosice to define its position on the major topics of the day. Discussions concentrated on the impact of the economic and financial crisis on employment and social matters as well as on a long-term economic vision for Europe. Commission members took this opportunity to affirm their support for the EU 2020 Strategy and underlined their belief that education is the most important factor for future EU growth. They also discussed questions of enlargement, referring to the possible need to reinforce and supplement current membership criteria, known as the Copenhagen criteria.
Albania, towards the European Union, a merit-based approach

On 14th April 2010 the Robert Schuman Foundation organised, under the patronage and in the presence of Eduard Kukan, Mep's European People's party, a conference with Sali Berisha, Prime Minister of Albania, on the theme "Albania, towards the European Union, a merit-based approach", at the European Parliament in Brussels.
After the Financial Crisis: what is the new economic approach in Europe?

The Robert Schuman Foundation and the CERI organised a seminar on 12th April 2010 entitled "After the Financial Crisis: what is the new economic approach in Europe?". The event took place with Jean-François Jamet, economist, former consultant for the World Bank, teacher of political economics at Sciences Po in Paris.
Presentation of the Schuman Report 2010 to the European Parliament

The Robert Schuman Foundation has published the fourth edition of the "State of the Union 2010, the Schuman Report on Europe" with Lignes de Repères. This fourth edition offers original analyses, unique maps and vital data to know everything you need to know about Europe. This work was presented in Brussels on 24th March 2010 together with H-G Pöttering, former President of the European Parliament and MEP (EPP), Alain Lamassoure, MEP (EPP), Joseph Daül, President of the EPP Group in the Parliament and Roland Freudstein research director at the CES (Centre d'études européennes). Many of the work's authors were also present.
