Summer University European Ideas Network

The European Ideas Network (EIN) is holding its summer university in Portugal on 19th June 2014. The aim is to look into the "achievements and the future role" of the network. The Robert Schuman Foundation's General Manager Pascale Joannin will be speaking as part of a round table focusing on "the contribution made by think-tanks and foundations to the process of policy creation.
15th Franco-German Dialogue

The Franco-German Institute of Ludwigsburg together with the Asko Europa Foundation organised the 10th annual seminar for Franco-German Dialogue on 16th and 17th May 2013. Entitled "Federal Europe? Solidarity, Subsidiarity, Democracy" there were speeches by Thierry Chopin, Studies Director for the Robert Schuman Foundation and Magali Balent, Project Director for the Robert Schuman Foundation.
8th Meeting of the "Rhénan Club"

On 23rd April 2013 in Berlin the Robert Schuman Foundation and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organised the 8th meeting of the Rhénan Club (Franco-German forum) on the future of Europe, . This meeting focused on Franco-German cooperation and its developments for the future in order to create "true economic and monetary union."

The Joseph Karolyi Foundation and the French Institute of Budapest have organises a conference on 8th and 9th March with the support of the Robert Schuman Foundation in Budapest (Hungary); the event entitled "Why do we need a Constitution? Between national characteristics and European consensus" was inaugurated by the Hungarian Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi alongside the Ambassador for France in Hungary, Roland Galharague. Jacque Barrot, member of the Constitutional Council and the Foundation's Board has taken part in the debates alongside József Szájer, MEP.
Commemoration Ceremony of the 50th anniversary of the Elysée Treaty

On 22nd January 2013, a solemn commemoration by the French and Germany governments was being held in Berlin with the National Assembly and the Bundestag, as well as with the Senate and the Bundesrat on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Elysée Treaty. At the end of the day there was a concert at the Berlin Philharmoniker on the invititation of Joachim Gauck, President of the German Federal Republic. Robert Schuman Foundation Chairman, Jean-Dominique Giuliani, was attending the ceremony.
14th Franco-German strategic forum "Can Europe still defend itself?"

On 28th November 2012, the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and the Ifri (Cerfa) organised the 14th Franco-German strategic forum in Berlin entitled "Can Europe still defend itself?" The Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Jean-Dominique Giuliani, spoke during the first session, which focused on the need to introduce a Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP).

He intervened during the first round table entitled "Completing the Monetary and Economic Union: towards a European Federation of Nation States?"
From euro-crisis to the European crisis

Jacques Rigaud, the Foundation's Deputy Chair travelled to Mönchengladbach (Germany) on 15th and 16th June 2012 to take part in a conference on the theme "From Euro-Crisis to the European Crisis". He was notably speaking on the question of Political Europe, a new challenge for the EU in the context of the crisis.
More Europe! Yes, but how?

The Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation Jean-Dominique Giuliani went to Berlin (Germany) on 12th June 2012 in order to participate to the debate organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation on a burning issue: "More Europe! Yes, but how? Current challenges in Germany and the EU to strengthen the European cooperation ". In his introductory speech, the Chairman explains the urgency "to regain the trust outside the EU, on financial markets, but also inside Europe, within the hope offered by the citizens." In the long time run, he explained the need to establish "a coalition of volunteers" on a Franco-German foundation.
The Founding Fathers of Europe

On 28th March 2013 the Konstantinos Karamanlis Institute for Democracy organised a seminar in Athens on the Founding Fathers of Europe in which Jacques Rigaud, honorary State Counsellor and Deputy Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, took part. His speech focused on "18 years old in 1950: the European destiny of a generation."
