Franco-German Relations

The Franco-German Institute of Ludwigsburg, together with the Goethe Insitute organised on 3rd May 2012 in Paris a presentation of the book "Deutsch-Französische Beziehungen als Modellbaukasten?", written under the management of Stefan Seidendorf. The General Director of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Pascale Joannin, took part in the event alongside Frank Baasner (DFI) and Joachim Umlauf (Goethe-Institut).

The General Director of the Robert Schuman Foundation, Pascale Joannin, took part in the event alongside Frank Baasner (DFI) and Joachim Umlauf (Goethe-Institut).
Stefan Seidendorf introduced the debate explaining the scientific approach to the Franco-Germany study. Ms Hélène Miard-Delacrois (University of Paris-Sorbonne) presented a summary of the historic developments in Franco-German relations.
Stefan Geifes (DHI Paris), who also contributed to the analysis explained the role played by Franco-German exchanges in the scientific world. Pascale Joannin (General Director of the Foundation) then compared the developments in European integration against those in Franco-German relations. She explained that it was the result of "patient, long term work". Finally she stressed the importance of history, geography and the economy of both France and Germany. Joachim Umlauf (Goethe Institut) then analysed Franco-German relations from a cultural point of view.
