Conference at the Medef - "Are there any plumbers left in Poland?"

On 15th January at 18:30 Jérôme Bédier, Chairman of the Europe Committee of the MEDEF, and Jean-Dominique Giuliani, Chairman of Robert Schuman Foundation organised an evening debate on the theme of "Are there any plumbers left in Poland?" Demography, Immigration and the borders of Europe.


On 15th January the Robert Schuman Foundation organised an evening debate together with the MEDEF on the theme of "Are there any plumbers left in Poland?". The debate focussed on demography, immigration and the borders of Europe. Is the free movement of workers in Europe an opportunity for European growth? Where do the borders of Europe lie? What type of immigration policy should be established? Is Europe moving towards demographic decline?

The following personalities spoke during the debate:

Jean-Dominique Giuliani, Chairman of Robert Schuman Foundation

Jérôme Bédier, Chairman of the Europe Committee of the MEDEF

Michel Foucher, geographer and diplomat, teacher at the Ecole Normale Supérieure, member of the Foreign Affairs Council and the Scientific Committee of the Robert Schuman Foundation.

Michel Godet, teacher at the CNAM, member of the Economic Analysis Council for the Prime Minister and the Scientific Committee of the Robert Schuman Foundation.

Denis Granger, chairman of the AX-ID group.

Catherine Wihtol de Wenden, Research Director for the CNRS.

This seminar was part of a series of meetings organised as the French Presidency of the European Union is about to start, on the initiative of Jérôme Bédier, Chairman of the Europe Committee of the MEDEF.
