On December 4 and 5, Jean-Dominique Giuliani, Chairman of the Robert Schuman Fondation, went to Estonia at the occasion of the official presentation of the translation of Robert Schuman's book "For Europe".

The Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation Jean-Dominique Giuliani, and Jacques Rupnik, director of studies of the CERI, took part at the Summit meeting of the Union on the subject "European enlargement: what benefits, what costs, what future?".

The leader of the opposition of the Turkish part of Cyprus, Mehmet Ali Talat, came to France on November 20-22, at the invitation of the Robert Schuman Foundation, in order to meet the French political leaders in the perspective of the legislative elections held on December 14, 2003.

Since May 1, 2004, the European Union has twenty-five members. The fifth European enlargement is the largest in terms of number of countries and citizens concerned.

The Robert Schuman Foundation, in partnership with the Moscow School of Political Studies, and with the support of the Foreign Ministry and the Regional Council of Rhône-Alpes, organised a study trip on the subject: "Europe, local institutions and civil society". 25 Russian decision-makers took part in it.

The European debates of Epernay, supported by the Robert Schuman Foundtion, took place in the presence of the (former) French Prime Minister, Jean-Pierre Raffarin. Jean-Dominique Giuliani, Chairman of the Robert Schuman Foundation, took part in the debates.

The Institute of international relations and political science of the University of Vilnius and the Robert Schuman Foundation organised a conference held from the 17th to 19th of October to study relations between the European Union and the Kaliningrad enclave. Among the participants were Antanas Valionis, Foreign Minister of Lithuania, Vladimir Lukin, vice-president of the Douma of the Russian Federation, Claude Goasguen, a French National Assembly deputy from Paris, and Loïc Bouvar, a deputy from Morbihan.

On October 17th and 18th, the Institute of International Relations and of Political Science of Vilnius University and the Robert Schuman Foundation organised a conference to deal with relations between the European Union and Kaliningrad enclave. Amongst the guests, Antanas Valionis, Minister of Foreign Affairs in Lithuania, Vladimir Lukin, vice-president of the Douma of the Russian Federation, Claude Goasguen, deputy of Paris and Loïc Bouvard, deputy of Morbihan, were present.

At Robert Schuman University in Strasbourg on September 30th, a Romanian translation of Robert Schuman's book For Europe was presented to the public. The preface was written by the Romanian prime minister, Adrian Nastase and the translation carried out by Pompilius Celan, the Romanian ambassador to the Council of Europe.

The Robert Schuman Foundation organised, with the Political Training Institute of Kiev (Ukraine) and in cooperation with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the French Embassy, on September 25,26, and 27, the first training seminar for young professionals wishing to change Ukraine's political landscape. The seminar was conducted by French members of parliament and by Jean-Dominique GIULIANI, the Foundation's chairman.
